Privacy Policy
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how KINVEST GUIDANCE LLC ("we," "us") collects, uses, and protects information through kinvestguidance.com and The KIN App (together, "KIN" or the "Services"). By using the Services, you agree to the practices described here.
2. Information We Collect
Account information. When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and phone number. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive the basic profile information those providers share.
Business profile information. If you register or claim a business, we collect the business name, category, address, contact details, hours, description, and any photos or media you upload.
Location information. KIN Quest check-ins use your device's precise location, collected only while you actively use the check-in feature, to verify you're physically at a business. Business addresses are also geocoded to power map and "near you" features, as is the address you enter when creating a community event — that geotag determines the event's default local visibility.
Marketplace & community event content. Marketplace listings you create (including the category you choose), and community events you post (name, date, time, location, category, description, and any photos or video), along with RSVP/interested activity on events.
AI-assisted marketing content. If you use the optional AI tool to generate or enhance event marketing material, we collect the prompt you enter, the resulting image, and a count of how many generations you've used that month.
Payment information. Marketplace purchases, business subscription payments, and featured event placement invoices are processed by Stripe. The KIN App does not store your full card number; Stripe handles and stores payment credentials under its own security standards. Business owners receiving Marketplace payouts do so through Stripe Connect, which collects identity and bank information directly and shares only what's needed for payout processing with us.
Photos and content. Business photos, Marketplace item photos, event photos/video, reviews, and any other content you choose to upload or post.
Usage and device data. We use Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, and Performance Monitoring to understand app usage, diagnose crashes, and measure performance. This includes device type, app version, and in-app events. We also store a push-notification token if you enable notifications.
Website visit data. When you visit kinvestguidance.com, we log the page you viewed, the domain that referred you (e.g., "google.com"), and a temporary session identifier generated in your browser that resets each browser session. We also derive an approximate city and state from your IP address using a third-party lookup service; we do not store the IP address itself, and this process does not use cookies or cross-site tracking.
3. How We Use Information
- To operate core features: business discovery, check-ins, the Marketplace, community events, and business management tools.
- To process payments, payouts, and featured event placement invoices through Stripe.
- To verify check-ins and calculate KINDEX scores and rewards, including crediting a KINDEX Score when a posted community event completes.
- To determine whether a community event defaults to local or national visibility, based on its geotagged address.
- To enforce Marketplace listing limits and the monthly AI-generation limit tied to your account.
- To send transactional notifications (order updates, event approvals, account activity) and, where you've opted in, marketing communications.
- To maintain security, prevent fraud, and diagnose technical issues.
- To understand traffic to kinvestguidance.com and where visitors are coming from.
4. How Information Is Shared
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with:
- Service providers who process data on our behalf: Google Firebase/Google Cloud (hosting, authentication, database, analytics), Stripe (payments, Marketplace payouts, and featured event invoices), RevenueCat (subscription management), and ip-api.com (approximate city/state lookup from IP address for website visit logging).
- Other users, as intended by the feature — e.g., a business profile you claim is public, a Marketplace listing you post is visible to shoppers, an event you post (once approved) is visible to other users, and a review you leave is visible to the business and other users.
- Legal or safety reasons, if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of KINVEST GUIDANCE LLC, our users, or the public.
5. Data Retention
We retain account and business data for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period after deletion to comply with legal, tax, and fraud-prevention obligations. Location data collected for a check-in is retained only as needed to record that the check-in occurred; we do not track your location in the background.
6. Your Choices and Rights
- You can disable location permissions at the device level at any time; this will disable check-in verification.
- You can opt out of push notifications and marketing emails in-app or via the links provided.
- You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data by contacting us at the address below, or delete your account directly from within the app at any time.
- You can report a Marketplace listing, community event, or other content that you believe violates our Terms of Service directly from within the app.
7. Children's Privacy
The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
8. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards, including Firebase's security infrastructure and Stripe's PCI-compliant payment processing, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the Services evolve. We'll update the effective date above and, for material changes, notify users through the app or by email.
